What is nuru massage gel powder?
Nuru is a Japanese-style body-to-body massage using an extremely slippery gel. Traditional ready-mixed nuru gel spoils quickly, which is why the powder form is preferred by most buyers. You only mix what you need, and dry powder keeps for around a year.
How do I mix the powder?
Add 8.45 fl oz to 16.09 fl oz (250ml-500ml) of warm water (40°C/104°F) to a bowl. It is best to start with 250ml and then adjust consistency. Evenly sprinkle around one tsp (5g) of powder to every 16.09 fl oz (500ml) of warm water. Wait around five minutes for the mixture to completely form into massage gel. Apply to wet skin.
Is Platinum fragrance-free?
Yes. The Platinum edition has no added fragrance, no essential oils, and no dyes. Completely fragrance-free on the skin.
Is sodium polyacrylate safe? I've heard it's not natural.
Sodium polyacrylate sounds like a chemistry lab experiment, but it's actually approved as a food additive in Japan, one of the world's most rigorous food safety markets. It's non-toxic, non-irritating, and the ingredient responsible for that signature thick, slippery nuru feel. We've explored natural alternatives extensively, but nothing delivers the authentic experience our customers expect. We'd rather give you something that works safely and effectively than something that just sounds good on a label.
Can I store leftover mixed gel?
No. Our powders contain no preservatives, so mixed gel should be used for that session only and any remainder disposed of. The advantage of the powder format is that you mix fresh every time. For sessions where you only need 500ml, scoop out about 1 teaspoon (roughly 5g) of powder and mix fresh, rather than mixing the whole sachet at once.
Will it stain my sheets?
The gel is clear and non-staining on most fabrics. For peace of mind, we recommend pairing it with a waterproof sheet or a flat drop sheet. Any splashes on clothing wash out in warm soapy water.
How long does the dry powder last?
Around a year in a cool, dry place. Each 5g sachet is individually sealed until you open it.
Is Platinum suitable for sensitive skin?
Platinum is our neutral edition with no added botanicals, which is why many sensitive-skin customers choose it first. Patch test on your forearm before a full session if you're unsure.
Is it vegan?
Yes. Platinum is Vege Project certified vegan.
Which pack size should I pick?
The single 5g is the cheapest first try. The pack of 3 or 5 is what most couples reorder. The pack of 10 is best value per sachet if you know you love it. If you also want a mixing bowl, see our Platinum with Mixing Bowl listing.
