Does Matsuri have any scent?
No. Matsuri is fragrance-free. No added fragrance, essential oils, or dyes.
What is the difference between Matsuri and Platinum?
Platinum is a pure, neutral formula with no added botanicals. Matsuri is enriched with Carrageenan (seaweed) and Camellia sinensis leaf (green tea), well-known ingredients in Japanese skincare for refreshing and softening the skin. Same slippery texture, different ingredient profile.
How do I mix the powder?
Add 8.45 fl oz to 16.09 fl oz (250ml-500ml) of warm water (40°C/104°F) to a bowl. It is best to start with 250ml and then adjust consistency. Evenly sprinkle around one tsp (5g) of powder to every 16.09 fl oz (500ml) of warm water. Wait around five minutes for the mixture to completely form into massage gel. Apply to wet skin.
Is sodium polyacrylate safe? I've heard it's not natural.
Sodium polyacrylate sounds like a chemistry lab experiment, but it's actually approved as a food additive in Japan, one of the world's most rigorous food safety markets. It's non-toxic, non-irritating, and the ingredient responsible for that signature thick, slippery nuru feel. We've explored natural alternatives extensively, but nothing delivers the authentic experience our customers expect. We'd rather give you something that works safely and effectively than something that just sounds good on a label.
Can I store leftover mixed gel?
No. Our powders contain no preservatives, so mixed gel should be used for that session only and any remainder disposed of. The advantage of the powder format is that you mix fresh every time. For sessions where you only need 500ml, scoop out about 1 teaspoon (roughly 5g) of powder and mix fresh, rather than mixing the whole sachet at once.
Is the 100g or 200g container reusable?
Yes. The premium container with natural bamboo lid is designed to be kept and reused once empty. It gives a genuine gift feel and works nicely on a bedside table or bathroom shelf.
Will it stain my sheets?
The very light tint in the gel rinses off skin and washes out of fabric in a standard wash. For best protection, always use over a waterproof sheet or drop cloth.
Can I use it in a professional massage room?
Yes. The 500g bulk pouch is priced for regular commercial use and makes up to 50 litres of gel. Many massage and spa settings use Matsuri as their house gel.

Which size is best for regular couple use?
The 100g or 200g bamboo-lid container is our most popular size for couples. Enough powder for many sessions, presented well enough to leave out, and reusable once the powder's finished.
