Prepare

Add 8.45 fl oz to 16.09 fl oz (250ml-500ml) of warm water (40°C/104°F) to a bowl. It is best to start with 250ml and then adjust consistency.

Add Powder

Evenly sprinkle around one tsp (5g) of powder to every 16.09 fl oz (500ml) of warm water.

Mix

Either place the bamboo lid firmly on and shake or stir until dissolved to create the perfect mixture.

Play

Wait around five minutes for the mixture to completely form into massage gel. Apply to wet skin.

Nocturne Edition Character

Yakyoku means nocturne in Japanese, a piece of music played at night. The edition is named for the mood it suits best, late-evening, candlelit, unhurried. Fragrance-free like the rest of our range, but built around the feel of the hours it's most enjoyed in.

Professional Bulk Size

The 500g resealable pouch makes up to 50 litres of premium massage gel, designed for serious, regular use. Ideal for massage therapists, spa professionals, and dedicated enthusiasts, offering significantly better value than buying smaller sizes.

Multipurpose & Long-Lasting

Perfect for full-body massages, stress relief, and skin hydration. The water-based powder transforms into a slippery gel that maintains its consistency throughout the session, with no frequent reapplication needed, leaving you feeling soft, moisturised, and relaxed.

Economical & Easy to Clean

One teaspoon of powder makes 500ml of massage gel. Water-based for easy cleanup, leaving no residue on the skin. Mix only what you need per session and dispose of any remainder, our powders contain no preservatives. Rinses off in plain warm water.

Made in Japan

Proudly manufactured in Japan with exceptional quality and attention to detail. Fragrance-free formula, free from parabens and glycerin.

What does Yakyoku mean?

Yakyoku is the Japanese word for a nocturne, a piece of music played at night. We chose the name for how this edition tends to be used, in slow, late-evening, candlelit sessions. The nocturne feel is about mood rather than scent, the powder itself is fragrance-free.

Who is Yakyoku for?

Anyone who treats a nuru massage as an evening ritual rather than a quick thing. Couples who book out the evening, massage therapists whose last appointment of the day deserves a little more atmosphere, and enthusiasts who want a bulk-size edition with a name that actually means something.

Is Yakyoku vegan?

Yakyoku uses a slightly different formula from our Vege Project certified editions. If vegan status is important to you, please choose Platinum, Sakura, Matsuri, Sumire, or the Nuru Supreme Collection, all of which are Vege Project certified vegan.

How do I mix the powder?

Add 8.45 fl oz to 16.09 fl oz (250ml-500ml) of warm water (40°C/104°F) to a bowl. It is best to start with 250ml and then adjust consistency. Evenly sprinkle around one tsp (5g) of powder to every 16.09 fl oz (500ml) of warm water. Wait around five minutes for the mixture to completely form into massage gel. Apply to wet skin.

Is sodium polyacrylate safe? I've heard it's not natural.

Sodium polyacrylate sounds like a chemistry lab experiment, but it's actually approved as a food additive in Japan, one of the world's most rigorous food safety markets. It's non-toxic, non-irritating, and the ingredient responsible for that signature thick, slippery nuru feel. We've explored natural alternatives extensively, but nothing delivers the authentic experience our customers expect. We'd rather give you something that works safely and effectively than something that just sounds good on a label.

Can I store leftover mixed gel?

No. Our powders contain no preservatives, so mixed gel should be used for that session only and any remainder disposed of. The advantage of the powder format is that you mix fresh every time. For sessions where you only need 500ml, scoop out about 1 teaspoon (roughly 5g) of powder and mix fresh, rather than mixing the whole sachet at once.

Is there a smaller size?

Not currently. Yakyoku is sold only in the 500g bulk pouch. If you want to try a powder before committing to 500g, the 40g or 50g sachets in the Platinum, Sakura, Matsuri, or Sumire editions are a good starting point.

Is it fragrance-free?

Yes. Yakyoku is fragrance-free. No added fragrance, essential oils, or dyes. The nocturne theme is in the name and the mood, not the scent.

Will it stain my sheets?

The gel is pale and non-staining on most fabrics. Always pair with a waterproof sheet for peace of mind.

Why is this one only sold in 500g?

Yakyoku is aimed at regular users and massage rooms where the bulk price matters most. Smaller sizes of this specific formula would not be cost-effective to produce.

This is a colossal amount of nuru gel. There are a few important things to go over just to set the stage, since this product seems to confuse a lot of people:This is for an 'adult couples massage'. It has a very specific application. Don't look it up on a work computer. This is not moisturising like a massage oil, in fact quite the reverse – don't leave it on your skin.Despite the natural ingredients shown and listed in some variations, this is almost entirely made from sodium polyacrylate. I had to look this up. Apparently it's 'technically not a plastic' but is in fact a superabsorbant polymer. Not being a chemist I really don't know the difference, but it's plastic-like synthetic stuff. This is not a natural gel and is not predominantly made from natural ingredients. So with that in mind, this is a decent product. It does not take a lot of powder to make a lot of gel. This will do you something like 50l. That is a huge amount and really throws the cost into perspective. Depending on how much you need, it will last you for an astonishing number of uses, making each use very cost effective. It comes in a pouch with a seal at the top, but it is very absorbent so I'm not 100% certain that it will actually last for the full pack – that's one downside of having so much, you have to get through it quickly. But overall, considering the vast amount you get, I think it's great value for money, and I'm happy to recommend it.

This gel is designed for body on body sliding, allowing you and your partner to move effortlessly over one another. It’s slippery fun and there’s plenty of it.It’s pretty rare to find a lube that is vegan, paraben free and glycerin free, but mixing up large quantities of gel which eventually get washed down the drain make it a guilty pleasure. Being odourless and tasteless makes it versatile for anyone that’s sensitive to chemicals.Because it starts off as a powder, it’s highly customisable.I can add my own concoction of essential oils to set the mood without messing up the consistency. Some prep is required. While it won’t leave stains and it washes off in the shower your bedding and mattress won’t survive it. It’s water based so trying to clean it off with water reactivates it.A waterproof sheet or a play mat is the way forward, the seller has some options on their Amazon store. It makes up to 50 litres and it’s messy by design but that’s what makes it such good fun. It’s incredibly sexy and feels like a liquid cushion between us. It gets tacky as it dries out but a splash of water brings it back to life. For the price and the quantity it will made I think it’s great value. Keep the rest sealed and away from moisture and it will last many slippery sessions.I hope you find my experiences helpful.

I ordered the Platinum gel. I haven’t used anything like this in the past but with a resealable bag and with half a kilo making 50 litres it seemed like good value for money.I only mixed small amounts with around 250ml of water. It took a bit of effort and some patience to get it mixed to a smooth gel without lumps. For larger quantities I would imagine it could be quite tiring. I left it to settle for five minutes before use. There was no real fragrance attached to the gel, just a subtle ‘clean’ smell once it was mixed. I’ve not had any skin reaction from using it but the first time we used it we applied the gel to dry skin and afterwards my skin felt a little dried out. The second time we applied it to moist skin and that worked much better, my skin wasn’t left feeling dry at all.The gel itself is very smooth and it lasts a long while before it starts to dry and becomes a little stickier. It’s easy to wash off the body, though if it goes onto fabric, it isn’t easy to sponge off as it absorbs the water! It doesn’t seem to stain fabrics. The bag is resealable which is essential as you’ll need to keep all moisture away from the powder if you want it to keep for any length of time.

You'll Never Need More of This Again

Well, one thing is for certain. This will be the last odorless, stainless, slippery massage gel/lubricant you will ever need. There's enough of this powder to last at least through three family generations. Seriously, it only takes one teaspoon for every 17 oz. of water to make a small mixing bowl of the goo. The problem, though it has nothing to do with the company that makes this, is that this type of lubricant gets dry in fairly short order. So you'll find yourself having to apply it to your partner (or yourself) quite frequently. But it is true; you don't smell it and it doesn't stain. So, if you have an extra $65 dollars laying around, go for it.

I gave this a try mainly to see if it was actually any good. First thing, it’s really gentle on the skin. No irritation, no weird sticky feeling, and it doesn’t smell of anything which I prefer. The mixing took a bit of trial and error. If you follow the suggested amounts it comes out quite thin. I ended up adding more powder to get it thicker, which worked much better for me.You do need to mix it properly though. If you rush it, you get little lumps that don’t break down. Warm water and a good mix sorts it.Once it’s done, it stays slippery for a decent amount of time and doesn’t dry up too quickly. It didn’t stain anything, but when it dries it can leave a bit of residue, so I just made sure to rinse everything off after. The packet itself is fine, reseals well and keeps it dry. Nothing fancy, but does the job.

Wow. This stuff is amazing! This is the closest product we have come across to natural lubrication and provides a really sensual experience - just beware that EVERYTHING it touches or gets on will be super slippery - be very careful in bathtubs or on tiled floors… This may seem like an expensive product at first sight but the volume of get that is produced by this 500g pack is incredible - a teaspoon in a litre of water produces a great consistency, it can be made thicker by using more powder if you desire but the recommended ratios are spot on. It can have a tendency to dry out damaged skin as it draws moisture out from any source, it’s best to moisturise dry skin beforehand for it to act as a barrier to the gel in our experience. Amazing product that I never know existed - definitely worth investigating.

The platinum version has two ingredients, sodium polyacrylate and sugar (sucrose). Presumably the latter is there just in case you get some in your mouth, because it's the former that turns water into a very slippery gel that's not runny. The idea is that you use it as a couple to slide over each other: it's not really for massages by hand.If you look at what else the brand offers here, you'll see they have plenty of what are effectively adult-sized paddling pools and waterproof sheets etc. That's because this stuff is messy - really messy - and if you try it on a bed with normal sheets, they'll wash out ok because it doesn't stain, but you'll be left with a wet mattress and you'll need to mix up some more.Although the pack has a ziplock seal, this is something you absolutely do not want to get wet before using it, so having it in multiple smaller sachets would have been better. If you're wondering if it's for you, try one of the smaller sizes first, because at £66.99, it's not cheap, but it does make an awful lot of the gel and is much cheaper than the kind that is made from seaweed. The 13.2 gallons mentioned it'll make are US gallons, not the British sort. For everyone else, it's fifty litres, which is going to be enough for around a hundred goes.

Unfortunately this is completely inappropriate and of no use for mobile sports massage which is what I would plan to use it for. It needs making up 10 minutes before use which is impractical a dis very runny and messy to use so t is not suitable for this use. My impression is this is aimed at a different toe if massage on a fixed setting.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a gel powder, but this Japanese massage gel is genuinely impressive. A small spoonful mixed with warm water turns into a smooth, slippery gel that glides beautifully over the skin without feeling sticky or greasy. It’s odorless, tasteless, and stain free, which makes cleaning up really easy. The Platinum edition is perfect for sensitive skin or custom blends, and one 500g pouch makes an enormous amount of gel, up to 50 litres, so it’s great value if you plan to use it regularly. The resealable sachet keeps everything fresh between uses, and the texture leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. One tip is though - it takes a little stirring to get the perfect consistency, and you’ll need a decent bowl for larger batches. Once you get the hang of it, though, it’s simple, clean, and very versatile for home massages. Highly recommend if you want something professional feeling without the fuss.

Slippery!

This stuff is fun! And what a value! A little bit of powder makes a lot of gel and a little bit of gel goes a long way! I was intimidated by the price but now seeing how long it lasts, I am very impressed! Creates a smooth glide and an slick texture great for either massage or other fun. Doesn't dry out the skin and doesn't dry uncomfortably. Highly recommend!

Slippery and Fun!

This Japanese Massage Gel Powder mixed quickly in water to create a smooth, almost gooey texture that is oh so slippery. It’s odorless and tasteless. The bag makes so much, so we have been making smaller batches. Plan ahead with a mattress protector for best results.

Solid gel, creates huge amounts!

This powder turns into massive amounts. Mix a bit more for thicker, bit less for thinner. The gel has no odor too it and spreads easily on skin. The big issue is that after a few minutes it will dry like many water based lubricants do. A tiny bit of water or more gel and you are back to it.Working great all over the body. Cleans up nicely with a shower/bath after. Sweat doesn't seem to matter much if you do get sweaty after applying.

Amazing powder that makes a LOT of gel!!

This powdered massage gel is amazing!! I like that it can be mixed to the exact consistency you want. It truly is colorless, odorless and tasteless. I have sensitive skin and it does not cause any reactions of any kind. Very economical, this large bag will make enough massage gel to last forever!! It's pricy but if you do the math, it's much cheaper than buying liquid massage gel.

Super slippery, surprisingly sensuous

This nondescript white powder mixed with water is super effective at mimicking, uh, certain biological fluids, such as feminine wetness. That may sound off-putting (or not), but it ends up being an relaxing and sensuous massage lubricant.Word of warning though, the resulting gel is extremely slippery. This commercial size package makes around 13 gallons of the stuff. I would sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon into four ounces of water to see and understand what this powder does. Could add flavoring to it as well, since the resulting gel only provides texture. Finally, if you’re going to play with it, take precautions against slips, spills, trips, and falls. For instance, you may want to play on the floor. Have towels at the ready, you’re going to get messy. Make sure your partner and yourself are grounded, safe, and secure. Enjoy.

pretty simple to mix and to use

just mix with water - use your hands to do the mixingbut before you make a large batch, just do a little and apply to your arm to ensure no adverse reactioncleanup is easy as it's water soluble so down the drain with more water is enoughI'm also going to try using some of this in a soap bubble mixture to see if I can create extra large bubbles.
